Theater Works SummerWorks Experience program continue with four great programs

From our friends at Theater Works:

Theater Works at the Peoria Center for the Performing Arts (PCPA) continues a hot season of cool summer workshops that both youth and parents will find exciting.

Is your child a natural performer?  Matthew Morrison of the hit TV phenomenon Glee traces his acting education back to Theater Works.  “His stage debut came at age 10 in a Theater Works production in Peoria…”Randy Cordova, AZ Republic| azcentral.com.

Theater Works continues to be a hot spot for young aspiring actors to stay cool.  The SummerWorks Experience program, which offers camps for ages 3 to 6 and more intense workshops for ages 7 to 18, is a great place to get started.  Classes are great for beginners, and also effective for those with performing arts experience.

Imagination camps (ages 3-6) are a great introduction to theater and the performing arts.  Young campers use their creative imaginations to bring fun characters to life through dramatic play, art and music.  Each camp presents a new theme so little actors can take just one or all of the sessions and have a unique artistic experience each time

Beginning next week, June 22nd to 26th Imagination campers will get to sharpen their Super Heroes skills in Super Heroes To The Rescue.  Whether you have a little Captain America, Cat Woman or a group of Avengers they will get their fill of  “CRASHES”, “BOOMS” and “BAMS” and share all they’ve learned at weeks end.  This camp runs Monday to Friday, 9am to 12pm.

Before Disney’s Frozen, came the story of The Snow Queen, which will be a three-week play production for ages 7 to 18 years old.  This epic adventure runs Monday through Friday, 9am to 4pm and follows Gerta as she goes on a quest to save her friend Kai from the treacherous Snow Queen. No theater experience is required. Actors will experience the entire production process from auditions and rehearsals to tech week and a live performance for friends and family to attend on July 24th.

Broadway Bound II begins Monday, July 27th and runs through Friday, July 31st with a second round of musical theater for youth and teens (ages 7-18) who love Broadway.  Students of all levels are welcome and participation in Broadway Bound I is not required.  Youth and teens will work with professional music directors and choreographers to perform a showcase of famous Broadway numbers.  These all-day workshops will introduce all new songs, choreography and will present an entertaining showcase at weeks end.

Rounding out the summer, Imagination Campers get Ship Wrecked! on an island and who knows what they will encounter, pirates, parrots, swords, treasure and more.  This half-day camp, for ages 3 to 6, begins on Monday July 27th and closes Friday July 31st with a cute reenactment of the kid’s week as castaways.

Theater Works Summer Experience programs range in cost from $145 for select weekly classes to $520 for three-week programs.  To register for TW’s SummerWorks or for more information on youth programming call the Theater Works Box Office at 623.815.7930 Monday - Friday 10am to 4pm or visit www.theaterworks.org.

YouthWorks (YW) is arts and education programming for ages 3-18 years old.  YW creates programs, classes and camps that teach a creative approach to life skills with exciting and enriching themes that inspire and instill a love for the performing arts.
