Desert Stages Theatre's GRAND OPENING FUNDRAISER - September 10

Scottsdale Desert Stages Theatre alumni Landry Bender, Best Friends Whenever and Fuller House; Asher Angel, Nicky, Ricky, Dicky and Dawn and Andi Mack; and Rachel Redleaf, Atypical, return to Phoenix to host an afternoon of fun, Star-Studded Sunday, Sun., Sept. 10 from 11:30am-5pm.

Star-Studded Sunday offers guests an opportunity to explore Desert Stages Theatre’s new location in Scottsdale Fashion Square packaged within an exciting afternoon of activities. The $100 ticket includes:

At age five, Landry Bender was on stage starring in musical theatre productions of Annie, The Sound of Music and Beauty and the Beast at Desert Stages Theatre. Bender’s first break came at 10, when she was cast as the hilarious ‘Blithe’ opposite Jonah Hill in 20th Century Fox feature The Sitter.

At just sixteen years old, Landry Bender already has the resume of a Hollywood veteran.  Previous roles include “Cyd” in Disney Channel’s Best Friends Whenever, “Cleo” in Disney XD’s Crash and Bernstein, “Makini” in Disney junior’s The Lion Guard and her latest role has her joining the successful Netflix reboot of Fuller House.

“I'm so excited to return to Phoenix for such a great cause. Desert Stages Theatre helped me become the actress I am today and I can’t wait to check out the new and improved theatre in Scottsdale Fashion Square!”  said Bender.

Actor and singer Asher Dov Angel started his career at the early age of six performing in more than 20 theatre productions. Notable and leading roles include Michael in Mary Poppins, NYA Award Winner for Outstanding Lead Actor as Oliver in Oliver!, Colin in A Secret Garden, Jeremy Jacobs in How I Became a Pirate, and Jojo in Seussical Jr., the Narrator in Into the Woods and Flounder in The Little Mermaid Jr. all at Desert Stages Theater.

After guest star appearances on Criminal Minds and Nicki, Ricki, Dicky and Dawn, Asher was cast to play Jonah Beck in Disney Channel’s break out television show Andi Mack, which is currently the #1 children’s television show.  While on hiatus after wrapping season 1 of Andi Mack, Asher was cast as Alex in the short film entitled On Pointe, currently in post-production.

Rachel Redleaf has starred in more than 50 stage productions including Ursula in The Little Mermaid Jr., Miss Hannigan in Annie Jr., Lefou in Beauty and the Beast and Tiger Lily in Peter Pan all at Desert Stages Theatre. Redleaf currently stars in the original Netflix series Atypical, set to release Aug. 11, 2017.

Funds raised will benefit Desert Stages Theatre Next Stage Capital Campaign to further the improvements and renovation of the new theatre space.
